Are Flag Clothes Illegal. The general opinion is that one should not wear clothing made out of a flag but clothes with Stars and Stripes patterns are ok. Nike recalls its Betsy Ross American flag sneakers but its easy to find more flag-adorned clothing.
It violates the Flag Code for the flag to be used as an article of clothing or while draped over a statute monument or other public structure. Therefore it is important. Unless an article of clothing is made from an actual United States flag there is NO breach of flag etiquette whatsoever.
Patches and lapel pins are okay.
However there is an. There is nothing illegal about the wearing or use of these items. But just because its not illegal doesnt mean it wont tick some people off. People are simply expressing their patriotism and love of country by wearing an article of clothing that happens to be red white and blue with stars and stripes.
